the boy with the broken stomach
Taal Volcano detour
It was a breath-taking, spine-tingling, eye-popping and heart-stopping view of the famous Taal volcano while traversing the stiff zigzag road from Tagaytay to Talisay, Batangas. Feels like heaven!

I’ve been to Tagaytay several times but I never had a chance to take this route. It was some kind of adventure waiting to be unwrapped. They call it Ligaya Drive but it’s more like Balete Drive to me when it gets dark. Others call it Bitukang Manok, named after the structure of the road. It’s a wild swirly chicken intestine that will surely disturb your digestive system. Like you’re taking a road to heaven cross fingered. With all the dizziness, it took me sometime before I finally get my hands on the keyboard and start typing.

It was a fascinating moment to take a road less traveled by. You get to experience the thrill and suspense of diving into some sort of elongated pathway of adrenaline rush. While along aside you get a full spectrum view of the elegant volcano. More like “Taal Volcano in 3D”, the best! Not to mention the tug in my stomach as we glide in every curve going down. It was something good and bad happening at the same time. Now I can testify, it’s more fun in the Philippines!

Tag-banas sa Batangas
I think I have a fever 'coz I’m hot.

When I was kid I’m always excited for summer vacation. It’s the time of the year where you get to enjoy the simple things in life. Bathing under the warm sun during weekend mornings on a beach near our place and flying bulador (kite) at the afternoon together with other kids. Also during summer my cousins used to visit us and spend their vacation at my grandmother’s house. Often we go to the Bahay ng Berong to pick some kalumpit (  Terminalia edulis Blanco ). After collecting a handful our lola would make matamis na kalumpit. Ah! Childhood memories – life was so simple way back then.

Today, things are getting complicated. It’s only February but the temperature here in Batangas is scourging hot. It’s like you can fry eggs on pavement. Well I guess this is what our science teacher call global warming. Global warming/ Greenhouse effect is no longer just the last few chapters on grader's science textbook. It's a phenomenal event happening right now and it’s no joke. All the catastrophe occurring here and over the world is very alarming especially climate change. Sometimes I wonder is it summer or global warming. Ang banas sa Batangas!

Blow jout!
Paturok!

Finally the results came out. After the hardships, sleepless nights, head banging reviews and nerve tingling moments, it all paid off.   Congratulations to all my friends who passed the Nursing Board Exam!  I salute the new registered nurses for passing the board. May this inspire you more to give your lawful service to the dying and needy, especially to the poor. I shall be forever being grateful for any friendly discounts if ever I get sick and be confined to any hospital you are in duty.  If you were able to remember tons of medical terms, I hope you’re not forgetting something.

Every accomplishment and achievement needs to be recognized and celebrated. And what better way to thank the people who were always there cheering you, giving you all their support, than to have something all of us is waiting for. Whether it’s a small accomplishment or a big thing like passing aboard, Filipinos will always tend have a blowout. It’s our way of thanksgiving.
So what are you waiting for New Registered Nurses of the Republic of the Philippines?
Ilabas na ang inyong natatagong galling at yaman. Mahaba-habang inuman na yan. Blow jout naman kayo. Blow jout! Blow jout!

Don’t look for love let it find you, but remember love is blind.

Love is an unexplainable feeling trigger but some chemical reaction and hormonal secretion that often cause your brain to become illogical. If that is the case, then what is the rationale of falling in love? How could you possibly explain something you don’t understand?

If you had something special, prior to that was friendship. But what if things happened so fast, that you never really had friendship and both of you just went beyond that – is it pure lust? Can there be a slight feeling of affection? I think what happened was an excessive libido production causing confusion to the hypothalamus.
I often get tangled about the psychology regarding love and lust, so I don’t usually delve on those emotions. It is by human nature to get physically attracted first and feelings just follow. So it becomes a mystery to me when to call it love and when to call it desire of the flesh or is it just me being easy to get.

I had a hard time writing this post under a state of uncertainty. Sometimes you'll feel something so good while feeling bad at the same time. Now I understand what people say about love, that at the start you’ll feel the warmth. But suddenly when it fades away you’ll feel so cold and empty as if your chest becomes hollowed. I wish not to give more details about what we had or we hadn’t because in the first place all was a grey area. Until now there’s this one question in my mind. Is it love or libido?
